Sustainability is not a report added to the business. It is a source of competitive advantage built into products, materials, design, data and customer value.

NANOZEO’s sustainability journey did not begin with an ESG report. It began with a corrugated box, a life-cycle assessment and a practical question from global customers: how can a supply chain reduce environmental impact without sacrificing performance, cost or scalability?

Over eighteen years, NANOZEO and the CJCHT ecosystem have evolved from low-carbon packaging and material innovation into product carbon footprints, supplier engagement, science-based targets, CDP climate governance and digital LCA capabilities.

Why this journey matters

WHY | Sustainability must solve a business problem.
Decarbonization cannot remain a compliance exercise or a brand claim. It must help customers use fewer materials and less energy, improve logistics, respond to buyer requirements and create measurable product differentiation.

HOW | Improvements must be tested in real products and scaled in real supply chains.
NANOZEO uses LCA, carbon-footprint data and customer feedback to verify product performance. The findings are then fed back into material selection, structural design and manufacturing decisions, creating a repeatable improvement loop.

WHAT | Low-carbon products become a supply-chain climate-governance capability.
When products, data, disclosure and design work together, sustainability becomes more than a cost. It becomes infrastructure for customer trust, market growth and industrial transformation.

2008 | Building a green strategy

In 2008, Raymond Wang began advancing green strategy, circular-economy applications and supply-chain decarbonization through NANOZEO and related CDP projects. As the environmental technology and R&D platform within the CJCHT group, NANOZEO connected material innovation and packaging design with the environmental expectations of international customers.

2009–2010 | Proving the value of low-carbon packaging through LCA

NANOZEO conducted a life-cycle assessment of Nano ZEO® reinforced corrugated boxes. Based on 526,000 ZEO® boxes used in 2009 to replace conventional boxes, the analysis indicated annual savings of approximately 185 metric tons of CO₂ emissions.

The study covered raw materials, transportation, box manufacturing and distribution, and was publicly released in 2010. It established a principle that still guides the company today: an environmental product must do more than claim to be “greener”—it must show where the impact is reduced and why the improvement is credible.

2010–2015 | Expanding from one box to a low-carbon product portfolio

Building on the corrugated-box LCA, NANOZEO expanded into ZEOCarton reinforced low-carbon boxes, paper pallets, ZEOGreens material and process solutions, and packaging products made with GRS-certified recycled plastics.

In 2012, development of ZEOTags began. The product line connected tags and labels with anti-counterfeiting, product identification and digital traceability, laying an early foundation for supply-chain data management and brand protection.

In 2015, ZEO PDQ was launched in response to customer demand. The low-carbon retail-display solution was not simply a material substitution. It brought structural design, paper efficiency, transportation and in-store execution into one integrated solution.

During this period, the broader portfolio gained rapid recognition from international customers. NANOZEO gradually moved from being a packaging and material supplier to an integrated partner capable of solving green-procurement challenges.

2015–2020 | Scaling products and closing the loop

ZEOTags entered scaled production in 2016. Following several years of development, sampling and supply-chain validation, the solution was introduced into international brand supply chains.

At the same time, NANOZEO refined a commercial model built around a continuous loop: start with product performance, disclose carbon and environmental data, revisit raw materials and processes, and then optimize packaging structure and product design.

As global customers expanded sustainable procurement, this approach supported significant business growth for both NANOZEO and CJCHT between 2015 and 2020. Sustainability was demonstrated to be a market strategy—not merely an environmental project.

2017–2020 | Entering global supply-chain decarbonization programs

CJCHT-ZEO began participating in Walmart Project Gigaton in 2017, reporting progress through packaging, energy-efficiency and supply-chain initiatives and receiving multiple Giga-Guru recognitions. Customer expectations encouraged the team to move beyond isolated product improvements toward management systems spanning factories and suppliers.

2021 | Committing to a 1.5°C science-based target

In response to climate-governance requirements from key international customers, including Target, NANOZEO and CJCHT committed to a 1.5°C science-based target in 2021. This marked a transition from providing low-carbon products to managing corporate and supply-chain decarbonization pathways.

SSBTi.org was also established as a nonprofit platform to help companies and supply chains build practical ESG, carbon-management and risk-response strategies. The team continued advancing energy-saving solutions for footwear manufacturing and low-carbon packaging programs across products, factories and suppliers.

2021–2024 | From disclosure to supplier engagement

NANOZEO and CJCHT continued strengthening CDP disclosure and supplier-engagement management. In 2024, CJCHT-ZEO was again recognized as a Walmart Giga-Guru and achieved an A-level result in CDP’s supplier-engagement assessment.

The focus was no longer on completing a questionnaire. Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 data, supplier information, project progress and management accountability were increasingly incorporated into day-to-day operations.

2023–2024 | Bringing methodology into training and digital tools

NANOZEO and its partners delivered practical programs on product carbon footprints, CBAM, ERP + ESG and LCA. Training was expanded across Taiwan, Vietnam and Southeast Asian supply chains. The team also began combining AI, ERP data and carbon management so that sustainability methods could operate inside existing procurement, production and management workflows.

2025 | A fourth CDP SEA Leadership A rating

In 2025, the CJCHT group received its fourth Leadership A rating in the CDP Supplier Engagement Assessment. The repeated recognition reflects a long-term governance capability rather than a one-time disclosure exercise.

2026 | Building a knowledge platform and LCA data ecosystem

In 2026, the team launched the SSBTi Intelligence Brief and the Nanozeo LCA Carbon Footprint Newsletter, covering CDP, SBTi, LCA, EPD, Scope 3, CBAM, ESPR/DPP and practical AI × ERP × ESG applications.

NANOZEO also expanded its LCA ecosystem by connecting modeling tools, licensed databases and professional partners—including eFootprint/CLCD and related ecoinvent and SimaPro resources—to help companies in Taiwan and across Asia build product-carbon data that is traceable, verifiable and continuously maintainable.

Three lessons from eighteen years of implementation

1. Sustainability must begin with the product.
Carbon reduction creates competitive value only when it reaches materials, structure, processes and customer applications.

2. Data is the bridge between environmental value and the market.
LCA, carbon-footprint information and supply-chain disclosure make environmental performance verifiable, comparable and usable in procurement decisions.

3. Sustainability can be a growth engine.
When product advantage, customer demand and climate governance are aligned, companies can reduce risk, expand market share, build longer-term partnerships and accelerate industrial upgrading.
